Planning a trip to LEGOLAND® New York?
Make it a full day of family fun in Goshen!
While Legoland is the main attraction, there's so much more to explore just minutes away. Whether you're looking for the best kid-friendly breakfast spot before gates open, a charming toy and snack shop to wind down in the afternoon, a local ice cream parlor to cool off after a sun-soaked day, or a scenic farm-to-table dinner spot that welcomes little ones, Goshen has it all.
As a local mom and shop owner, I’ve mapped out a full day of family-friendly stops to help you make the most of your visit to LEGOLAND and the heart of the Hudson Valley.
170 W. Main Street, Goshen, NY 10924
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 8-4pm
Parking; stroller, kid, and pet friendly; Indoor & Outdoor seating; Restroom with changing table; Wheelchair accessible
When we moved to Goshen in 2022, Café Yen was the first local place we found, and we’ve been coming back weekly since!
All pastries are made in house (there is a local dog that comes in daily for the croissants), and the coffee and tea drinks are always on point with gorgeous latte art and house made syrups that change by season.
My current favorite breakfast dish is the breakfast sandwich on a mouthwatering housemade biscuit, with housemade sausage, eggs, and cheese. For lunch, depending on my mood, it’s either a falafel wrap (GF options available!), or the Italian Stallion sandwich on their airy and fluffy housemade focaccia.
Favorite drink for the summer is the iced matcha or lavender lemonade, and for the colder months I’m a sucker for their very rich and frothed hot chocolate. Check out the walls that rotate monthly with local artists.
Legoland opens at 10am and Café Yen is one of the only local breakfast spots open at 8am. Start your morning off with a little trip into town and a hearty breakfast!
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 8-4pm
We loved Café Yen so much, we opened a snack and gifts shop inside it! Margot’s Mercantile is an independent specialty store that sells snacks, toys, and gifts.
Our craveworthy snacks are made with better-for-you ingredients. Customer favorites are our Ube Popcorn from Tochi, Sockerbit Swedish Sour Candy, and the only organic marshmallow on the market- the Vanilla Bean Mojave Mallow.
Dye-free, gluten-free, vegan, kosher, dairy free options – we’ve got a little something for everyone whether they are eating to live or living to eat. Stock up on snacks for your long day at Legoland with us!
You won’t find our toys at big box retailers either; we work with independent heritage brands who create engaging and educational toys that spark imagination. Whether you’re looking for an activity to occupy a little during travel or at dinner, a beautiful craft to make and cherish, a baby shower, or a birthday gift, I’ve got something for the special littles in your life!
The Parlor at Trailside treats is the year-round location next to Café Yen/Margot’s Mercantile

Right next door to Café Yen and Margot’s Mercantile is the year-round location for a local favorite, Trailside Treats!
Newly renovated with an vintage soda shop vibe, Trailside is a great place to beat the heat after a long day at Legoland. All ice cream is made on site, they even have Italian ices for dairy-free customers.
Our current favorites are Cookie Monster, Trotter Tracks, and any gelato flavor of the day!
Check out their seasonal Heritage Trail location open May – October. This location is outdoor seating only.

Happy Hour is every Friday, 5-7pm, and you can order dinner ahead to be enjoyed on site all while a local musician tinkles away into the fragrant night air. Their rotisserie chicken dinner is cooked to perfection and is our go-to on Fridays where we are always greeted by farm welcoming committee Bilou the goose, and Paul & Glenn the friendly farm pups.

Sometimes the weather spontaneously changes your plans, so it’s great to come to Goshen prepared with a contingency plan! If you have a rainy day while visiting Legoland, look no further than The Castle Fun Center - one stop away off Route 17. Rain or shine, The Castle is open year-round offering family fun with their Inflatapark, laser tag, bowling, roller skating, and axe throwing.
During the warmer months, their outside park is open with minigolf (Margot’s favorite activity), go karts, a zip line, and several rides. This venue is air conditioned, so it’s an awesome place to beat the heat!
Goshen is full of hidden gems that turn a great day into a memorable one. From coffee and breakfast to sunset dinners on a farm, these local spots welcome families with open arms.
I hope this guide helps you plan a day that’s as joyful and kid-friendly as the park itself. If you stop by Margot’s Mercantile, be sure to say hi—I love meeting fellow parents on adventures. And if you found this helpful, feel free to share it with a friend planning a trip!
